Walt Peregoy To Receive NFFC Disney Legend Award

4/26/2006 7:51 PM EST
The NFFC is pleased to announce that Walt Peregoy, artist and Imagineer, will receive the NFFC Disney Legend Award this July.

Like several of our previous honorees, Walt worked in both Feature Animation and Imagineering. He started at the Studio in 1943, in animation. He worked on Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Mary Poppins, among other features, as an animator. He was the lead background painter on Sleeping Beauty, and he was the background stylist (responsible for the overall look of the film's backgrounds) on 101 Dalmatians and The Sword in the Stone. For Imagineering, he was a significant contributor to Epcot. Among other things, he created and styled the entrance, atrium and ambience of The Land Pavilion and worked on the original Journey Into Imagination attraction. In addition, he is one of the four artists profiled on the 1964 Wonderful World of Disney episode Four Artists Paint One Tree.

Walt will receive his award at the annual Luncheon With a Disney Legend, to be held this year on Saturday, July 15, at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Garden Grove, California (just down the street from Disneyland). The Luncheon is part of the 2006 national Convention, and Conventioneers attending the luncheon will have a chance to hear Walt talk about his fabled career.

Walt joins the more than 75 previous recipients of the award; honorees have contributed to every facet of the Disney legacy. The Board will announce additional 2006 recipients of the NFFC Disney Legend Award soon.
