Richard Sherman to Present First Heritage Award
Richard Sherman once said of his and his brother Robert’s careers, “There's a line in Mary Poppins that says, ‘A man has dreams of walking with giants to carve his niche in the edifice of time.’ At Disney, we walked with giants.”
On Saturday, January 16, this giant of the music world, Academy Award® winning composer, NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Legend, and Walt Disney Company Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman will present author and film historian Leonard Maltin with the first NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Heritage Award.
Celebrating Disney's storied past, and the lives and careers of those who helped make it all possible, remains the core mission of the NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club.
The NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Heritage Award honors individuals outside the Walt Disney Company who have made significant contributions to promoting awareness of, and the preservation of, Disney history.
Our first honoree, Leonard Maltin, is just such a person. In addition to his internationally best-selling series of books, Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide, Mr. Maltin's other works include Of Mice and Magic: A History of American Animated Cartoons, The Disney Films, and the television special Fantasia: The Creation of a Disney Classic.
Mr. Maltin is also active in the home entertainment field, hosting and producing, among other titles, the popular series of Walt Disney Treasures DVDs.
Please join us and our remarkable guests, presenter Richard Sherman and honoree Leonard Maltin, for a fascinating program about rediscovering, evaluating, and preserving the earliest and rarest works of Walt Disney Productions.
The NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Heritage Award Luncheon honoring Leonard Maltin will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Crowne Plaza Resort, 12021 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA.
Following the luncheon and awards program, Mr. Maltin will autograph one item for each NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Heritage Award Luncheon guest. Additionally, Mr. Sherman will be available for those luncheon attendees who want to stop by and say hello.
Tickets for The NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Heritage Award Luncheon are $55 for NFFC members and $85 for nonmembers. Registration and payment information can be found at nffc.org.
Book Debut at NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club All Disneyana Show and Sale
The 2010 NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club All Disneyana Show and Sale marks the debut release of Walt Disney’s First Lady of Imagineering, Harriet Burns.

After Harriet Burns passed away in July 2008, her daughter, Pam, received such an outpouring of love, complete with colorful stories of her mother from family and friends, both personal and professional, that she decided to create a tribute book. Together with coauthor Don Peri, they solicited and received many more stories about Harriet; they all are gathered in this book, together with many photos of Harriet not seen before by the public. Through this limited edition hardcover, coffee table-style book, you will discover the range and depth of Harriet's impact on those lives she touched, whether as a mother, grandmother, relative, mentor, coworker, or friend. The stories will bring a smile or a tear, or both, and will contribute to an understanding and appreciation of this tiny woman with a heart as big as her native Texas.
The book is a perfect gift for those seeking inspiration from a pioneering woman venturing with bold finesse into what was previously a male-dominated workplace, for Disney history buffs and—of course—for those who knew and admired this multifaceted woman.
Pam Burns-Clair, MFT, is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in Napa, California. Her daughter Chelsea contributed as the project designer. Don Peri is a Disney historian and author of Working With Walt: Interviews with Disney Artists (University Press of Mississippi, 2008). Don lives in Davis, California.

About NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club
NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich legacy of Walt Disney and his company of brilliant artists and storytellers. Our common goal is to provide Disneyana enthusiasts of all ages from around the world with news, information, and events that enhance their experience with, and love of, all things Disney.
This goal is achieved through the publication of a member newsletter, the FantasyLine Express, and by hosting national and international members, along with local NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Chapters, where members can trade information, learn more about their favorite collectables, hold group outings and activities, and just have fun!
We are equally dedicated to sharing Walt Disney’s artistic legacy as well as Disney magic with those in need. Through a series of charitable fund-raising events, the NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club helps to support inner-city arts programs and to assist families and children affected by major illness to find a little happiness at Disney parks around the world.
By far, the biggest and most popular means of expanding the magic are the NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club All Disneyana Conventions, where members are informed and entertained by Imagineers, animators, entertainers, authors, and artists from every facet of the Walt Disney Company, along with many independent Disney experts. Additionally, the NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club All Disneyana Show and Sales, which are open to the public, provide vast exposure to Disneyana and an unparalleled experience for autograph collectors.
