Hello Fellow NFFC members,
Well, it’s finally here! The celebration to end all celebrations! The bash that
the Disneyland Resort has been working on for a year now – Disneyland’s 50th
Anniversary party – The Happiest Homecoming on Earth – is underway. It’s the
biggest event I’ve ever covered at the DLR and we thought that it would be fun
to tease you a bit with what’s going to be coming in June’s FantasyLine Express.
There were events and unveilings, speeches and jokes, premieres and revelations,
images and Imagineering – and I’m going to do my best to share all of the Golden
Glory with you in the June issue.
Here’s a sneak peek –
Enjoy!
Kim

This wonderful model – built at WDI – is part of the Disneyland, the First 50
Magical Years exhibition in Main Street USA’s Opera House – plenty to keep the
Disneyland fan busy for hours.

This wonderfully whimsical mix of plant and craft greets guests as they enter
Disneyland. It’s hard to tell where real stops and fantasy begins.

Even the early hour, the hordes of media and threatening rain couldn’t keep the
magic out of Julie’s smile.

The “hidden” 50’s are everywhere. A little
secret – WDCC sculptor Bruce Lau did the Tinker Bell that tops the Main Street
lampposts.

I like the Disneyland 50, Happiest Homecoming on Earth logo. Good thing too,
because it’s just about everywhere across the Disneyland Resort.

It’s the details that impress me the most –
as will the prices they will go for at Disney/e-Bay when the 18-month-long
celebration is over.
After the media preview of Remember, Dreams
come True, I found Steve Davison on Main Street USA and thanked him for “Making
me believe in Tinker Bell again.” Without question, this is the most impressive
nighttime spectacular in Disneyland’s 50 years.

A closer look reveals that all the
images used in the Walt & Mickey mosaic in the Disneyland, the First 50 Magical
Years exhibit are all Disneyland details. A wonderful tribute to the Man, the
Mouse and the Dream.

The finale – the moment when Julie
Andrews wished everyone a gracious “Welcome Home!”.
