Each year at this time, as the snows are finally receding from our Ohio home and spring flowers are beginning to pop up out of the ground, I find myself being ever more grateful for Walt Disney’s decision to place Disneyland in Southern California and Walt Disney World in Central Florida.

In addition to their annual promise of renewal those spring flowers also remind me it won’t be long until our members—old and new—gather for our biggest annual magical event of the year. Of course I’m speaking about this year’s NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club DisneyanaManaia Convention & All Disnseyana Show and Sale 2010.

Once again our own little Magic Kingdom will materialize from the mists at the Anaheim Crowne Plaza Resort in Garden Grove, California. For those of you planning to attend your first-ever NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club DisneyanaManaia Convention the Anaheim Crowne Plaza Resort is just a few short blocks down the street from the Disneyland Resort. (It’s about a 15 minute walk and there are shuttles throughout the day from the hotel.—Editor)

The dates for this year’s convention and All Disneyana Show and Sale are July 13 through 18.

And, you aren’t going to want to miss it.

Even though NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club DisneyanaManaia Convention & All Disnseyana Show and Sale2010 is still several months away Brian Hugo, our convention coordinator and his all volunteer committee already have some exceptional events planned for us.

Some of this year’s presenters will include, legendary Disney cartoonist Floyd Norman, Willie Ito, whose career in Disney animation harkens back to the famous Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene, the McKim family, noted Disney blogger Jim Hill, themed entertainment industry leader Gary Goddard, Imagineers Kim Irvine, and Tony Baxter, and the amazing and truly unforgettable June Foray. 

A real treat this year will be a behind the scenes peek at the Smoke Tree Ranch, Walt and Lillian’s Palm Springs, California getaway. The folks from Smoke Tree Ranch will be sharing many of their never before seen pictures of Disney family visits to this secluded California dessert oasis.

Our annual fund raising event to benefit Ryman Arts is Dream: A Collector’s Brunch. Full of surprises it will take place on Wednesday July 14 at 9:30 a.m.

NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Legacy Chair Allan Halcrow and volunteers of the legacy committee will host the NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club Legends Luncheon 2010.

I’m pleased to announce that this year’s Legends honorees are Eddie Carroll, the voice of Jiminy Cricket since 1973, Mark Henn, who has worked on just about every Disney animated film the past quarter century, and Imagineer Wayne Jackson, whose magic has touched Disney theme parks and resorts around the world. 

Whether or not you plan to be with us at convention, and we sure hope you do, make plans to join us on Saturday July 17 as we spend a day at the Happiest Place on Earth celebrating Disneyland’s 55th Anniversary.

Can’t make it to Southern California this July? Our Special Events Coordinator, Anita Schaengold (my favorite wife) and her team are already working hard on NFFC - Disneyana Fan Club Disney World Holiday Extravaganza 2010. 

The Extravaganza takes place December 9 through 12 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, which as I mentioned at the start of this message I’m extremely grateful for because by that time the flowers will be gone and our Ohio home will once again be covered in snow.
