A Message From Our President
Recently I had the pleasure of spending a week in Southern California, not as I usually do attending one of our national events or going to the Disneyland Resort, but to help staff the NFFC booth at the first ever D23 Expo. It was an exhausting and yet an exhilarating experience.
Many of our members visited the NFFC booth, which was located in the Expo’s Collectors Forum in Hall A of the giant Anaheim Convention Center located across the street from the Disneyland Resort. They came from Australia, Japan, Canada, and Europe.
Representatives from several of our chapters volunteered to help out and we had some special guest appearances, which included NFFC Disney Legend Paige O'Hara, Margaret Kerry, the original model for Tinkerbell, Mark Silverman, the voice of Rod Serling in Disney's Tower of Terror attractions, and Terri Hardin, Muppeteer and former Imagineer.
This was an unprecedented opportunity for us to introduce our organization to thousands of Disney fans from around the world. Many of the people visiting our booth were keenly interested in the fact that NFFC is a member-driven Disney fan experience. Still others wanted to know more about our network of chapters as well as our Disney related charitable events work.
Building recognition of who we are and what we offer Disney fans remains one of our key tasks. Our chapters are the backbone of our organization and it is a vital responsibility of our national organization to ensure that, as many people as possible are made aware of NFFC activities in their area, wherever they may be from.
As part of our ongoing effort to learn more about and assist with chapter events and charitable activities I am announcing the President’s Chapter Outreach Program.
Over the course of the next two years I will visit each of our U.S. and Canadian chapters. Much as I would enjoy visiting our international chapters it simply isn’t financially practical at this time. Nevertheless, I want to meet as many of you as possible in person at your chapter events. I want to hear what you have to say and I want to know more about how our national organization can do more to help you build your chapter.
As NFFC looks forward to its next 25 years, it is important to continue building on all that we’ve accomplished during our first 25 years and to take our message to new generations of Disney fans the world over. With your help this is what I hope to be able to do in the coming years.
